U.S. Customs Port Townsend Office

All vessels and aircraft arriving in the Port Townsend area from other nations are required to report to the U.S. Customs officer in Port Townsend. Our normal business hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  Please call 360-385-3777 during business hours to coordinate your arrival with a Customs officer.

  • We prefer to meet inbound vessels at the Port Townsend Boat Haven fuel dock.  Please do not block the fuel pumps when you tie up to await our arrival. (The best spot, if open, is at the red dot in the photo below.)  To avoid any delays in your post-arrival plans or ongoing travel, please contact us during our normal business hours if you plan to arrive after hours or on the weekend.

  • Customs waiting area sign at east end of rampCustoms sign on taxiwayWe meet inbound aircraft at the Jefferson County International Airport. To avoid any delays for your further travel, please contact us at least one hour prior to your landing.  The U.S. Customs waiting area is at the east end of the ramp for your privacy, and there are signs directing you there.  The yellow sign with the arrow is located on the left side of the south taxiway, and points you toward the east end of the ramp, adjacent to the helicopter landing zone.  The white sign with the red lettering is located between the two tie-down spots at the designated waiting area.  Please remain at the waiting area until the Customs officer clears you to proceed.  We also require that you not land at any private airstrips until you are cleared into the United States by a Customs officer.

For general information, including import restrictions, please link to the U.S. Customs & Border Protection web site.  The "Know Before You Go" brochure series will answer many of your questions.
